Ok so it’s been a few weeks since we last updated you on our
progress as a family. After a lot of hard work Felicity is now feeding well and
I have learnt to express so that Mark can help out with the evening feed.
Feeding is going so well that I have my first night out planned on the 14th
March for an event that work is holding. I am so excited (sad). I have my
outfit sorted and the milk has been frozen so that Mark can do the night feed
on his own.
Out for lunch to try the breastfeeding thing in public
With feeding going well our next challenge is settling her.
She has become more alter so getting her to sleep is more difficult, as she is
worried she will miss out on something. After getting advice from Georgia and
reading a book she lent me called ‘Baby Bliss’. Mark and I have started the
challenge. I am glad to say that so far it is going well and we have got
settling down to around 45 minutes.
The next big thing for new mums I have been told is the
nightime feeds. I have to say that Felicity has always slept well over night,
but we have made a change to our routine. In that she is now sleeping for 5 to
4 hour blocks from 7pm-12 midnight and then 2am – 6am. To deal with this change
I am have to ensure I am in bed for 9pm and asleep by 9.30pm. This means that
if you want to talk to us over skype now or phone you have to ring us between
8.30am-10.30am your time. Or of course
we can do morning our time too.
Felicity is now enjoying mat time more and he neck strength
is increasing and she is following items with her eyes more. I do have some
videos of this if anyone wants to see them, just let me know your email address
and I will send them.

The last few weeks have really been about showing Felicity
off to people. I have taken Felicity to both Mark’s and my workplace and we
have had a lot of people over for coffee (which appears to have quieter down
this week J.
More time for me time). To add to this we also held a wetting the baby’s head
party on Saturday 1st March. As some of you may be aware that Mark
bought a 6 litre wine bottle on his birthday trip to the McLearn Vale. Well
this is the bottle we opened on Saturday with around 30 of our friends. Though
I only had a glass. I think a good night was had by all and because I had
expressed that day there were plenty of people willing to help with the evening
feed and settling. Which meant that mum got the night off J (this did feel very
wired).
