As those of you who follow us on Facebook will know. Mark
and I have recently been returning to our student days and consumed a large
amount of alcohol, thanks to some fantastic friends we have made down under.
Last weekend we had a dinner party with Hannah, Kate and
Scott on Saturday, which resulted in an interesting game of Articulate and 4
bottles of wine being finished. I have to say I don’t think I agree with red
wine. Mark, Scott, Hannah and Kate took great pleasure in teasing me on
Sunday. We had a pleasant afternoon with
Michael and Lynne. Mark and Michael spent the afternoon in the shed making Kubb
sets (I will explain this further later on), whilst Lynne and I enjoyed a cup
of tea, in front of the log burner and walked the dog Ruby. The day was rounded off with an amazing roast
dinner.
Following celebrations at work for International Guide Dog
on Wednesday and participating in the parade through the city.
Thursday (25th April 2013), was
ANZCA Day (A public holiday) so we took Friday off and had a long weekend
around Adelaide. Our friend Dayna visited us from New South Wales. On Wednesday
night it was Dayna’s birthday so the weekend was started with dinner our in our
local (http://www.agfg.com.au/guide/sa/adelaide/south-east/kensington/restaurants-dining/the-rising-sun)
On Thursday we went for a walk in Morialta Falls and sent
the afternoon in the park playing a Swedish game Kubb. This is the game Mark
and I were taught during out latest holiday and thanks to Lynne and Michael and
their shed Mark was able to make us a set. If you’re interested here are a few
links on how to make your own set and how to play. Mark and I will challenge
you to a game on our next trip to the UK. J

).
Mark enjoyed an ice cream
On Friday we took Dayna for a drive down to Port Elliot,
Deep Creek and the McLean Vale for some wine tasting. On Saturday Mark participated in Pete Hough’s
stag do, via modern technology, throughout the day.
And we headed out into town
to show Dayna and Kate the pubs we had found in the 3 years we have been out
here. What a night. This Sunday has been
slow and the realisation for us both that we are not as young as we were. This
was confirmed by Dayna when she said that Mark dose not seems to be able to
take it anymore, when he felt asleep med sentence. In his defence we had 5
hours sleep and then he got up early to go for a ride, though I still think I
have to agree with Dayna. This weekend
is being rounded off with Georgia and Jason for Sunday dinner to celebrate
Juliet’s 3rd birthday to catch up with my fantastic godson.
With the realisation of no longer being students, this week
I need to get on with planning my up and coming guide camp in mid-May and Mark
will return to writing papers.
