Following a great trip to Sydney we both found ourselves
away for work, near the end of the month. I went on my first trip up to the
Yorke Peninsula, since the car accident in September 2011. It was fantastic to
be back up there, seeing some great clients. I had an added bonus that the
weather was around 30 c. Which meant that I may have taken a swim or two during
my lunch break.
This is a bay near Port Victoria, where I found myself
swimming with Pelicans.
The following evening I found myself in Moonta Bay with a
fantastic view of the sunset over the bay.
On my way home from the Yorke Peninsula I came across some
interesting views and experienced my first controlled burn off of farm land.
On return from the Yorke Peninsula and doing some gardening
I realised that my hard work has been paying off. It appears that with skills pick up from
Granny (“everything enjoys a good cut back” ) I have rescued another plant in
our garden. It’s the first time I have seen it flower. Still not sure what it
is though.
The first weekend of May we celebrated the fact that Eleanor
(Jon and Liz’s daughter) has turned one and is how feeding herself. We also attended
a fantastic house party to celebrate the fact that Lynne and Michael had moved
in together.
The second weekend in May we both had work to do. Sunday was
our day off and we headed to the hills to enjoy the Autumn leafs, log fires and
roasted chestnuts. We also found a fantastic little book shop in Stirling.
After many late nights and busy weekends, the third weekend
of May was Guide camp in the Adelaide Hills. What was special about this one
was that it was the first one that I was organising. With some fantastic help
and support from my leadership team at Guides. I think the camp was a great success
and the girls enjoyed themselves, even though it rained for most of the weekend
and they went home with very wet trainers.
Friday night I introduced them to my PGL experience and we
played catch the flag, Giant, wizards, and Elves. We also did some team
building games.
On Saturday we made camp gadgets, cooked lunch on camp fires, learnt how to
read a compass and had a camp fire.
On Sunday it was Sandy’s birthday so we had a birthday party,
completed an obstacle course called Challenge Hill and packed up camp. Mark
also came to spent the morning with us. It was great to finally share my
Guiding with him.
This weekend we have been enjoying our wedding Annveristy,
as Mark will be away with work on the day. We’ve had a great day driving round
a very wet Clare Valley, tasting wine and having . lunch at Skillogalee winery.
We even found ourselves driving on a road with a name we know well.
