10th January 2011 till 16th January 2011

January 10th to January 16th 2011

We the first week of the year in Australia has gone well, I think. It was back to normal on Monday 10th January 2011, but a shock to the system. It was good to see everyone again and to show them picture of my snowy Christmas. Though the jet lag gone worse as the week went on, I think the worse day was Thursday. I spent most of the morning fighting my eye lids (which is not a good thing when you are in training and is one of two).

I have been in training for the last few days, to use a light assessment for people who have had a stroke and have had as a result lost field vision. So far the course has been very interesting and I may have found yet another interesting area of practice. The course continues on Monday and Tuesday this week, really looking forward to it.

This was a day I have been waiting for, for as long as I can remember. My amazing husband had agreed to buy me a piano for my birthday (and wedding present) and it arrived on Wednesday morning. On the same day Mark had tickets to see the Cricket 20 /20 game in Adelaide. He did ask me if I wanted to go, but I had waited long enough to play my own piano. No cricket match was going to get between me and my piano. In the end Mark went to the cricket with Jon and Georgia. I on the other hand had a girly night in with Liz, where pizza and a girls flick was the call of the day.

This evening Mark and I had my guiding friends Wendy and Judy over for dinner, so we could plan next terms girl guide sessions. We had a lovely evening and Mark’s cooking went down a storm. I now just need to get through the to-do list and the girl guides term will be sorted. Any one got any suggests for activities I could do with my girls for St David’s day.

I nearly forgot today I returned home from work early. Knowing my landlady had let the pumper in during the day, as Mark and I were unable to do so. However I was not expecting her to be there cleaning (scrubbing) the toilet basins and kitchen sink when I returned home. It doesn’t stop there, when she had finished she persisted to give me a lesson on the local cleaning products. She ended the lesson with a list of products that I should get from the shops. It gets worse, she then asked me if I would mind if she got changed, as she was in her gardening clothes because the toilet and kitchen sink cleaner was bleach. This I agreed to, expecting her to go into the bathroom to get changed. Oh no she got changed in the living room I had to dash into the kitchen before I saw something I didn’t need to see. I was so shocked by it all, I rang Mark for support. Mark's responses was if she wanted to clean the house, why don't we agree to adding $20 to the weekly rent, through laughter.

January 15th 2011

Just a general day for me, getting through my guiding to do list, but Mark went of on a bike ride with a few people (Jon, Adam and Adam) around Mount Lofty and then I meet up with them in the pub later.

January 16th 2011

After a long needed lie in, we headed south in the car to check out some more beaches. After about an hours dive we found a love bay called Second Valley. After spending most of the afternoon on the beach and swimming. We began the journey home, popping into a few pubs/restaurants on the way. Both of which we can fully recommend (Leonard Mill, in Second valley and the Victoria Hotel, Aldinga).
