This week has been quite a quiet week really. Mark ended up going to Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula for work on Thursday (overnight). I on the other hand was preparing for my own trip to the Yorke Peninsula at the end of next week.
This week Adelaide has been cycling mad with the tour down under, so to get in with the feeling we headed to Port Victor for a bike ride on Saturday. We even managed to see some of the tour down under on their route. What a sight. We were driving on the dual carriageway and I have never seen so many car’s park on the hard shoulder (just to get a glimmer of the tour down under), there must have been a good 200 or 300 hundred cars.
The day continued to be interesting. On our 45km bike ride we found a fantastic fish and chip shop on the beach front of Port Elliot Bay, where we watched the beach life guards complete a training session with a helicopter, jet-ski and speed boat. During the bike ride Mark collected his first case of pommy sunburn, but with a number of applications of Aloe Vera is now less RED. I on the other hand ended up literally seeing stars after falling off my bike, when my bike tyre got stuck in a tram line. Though I have come away from it with bruised pride, right knee and badly grazed left elbow I am fine, just a little sore.
Today we have been to a friend’s second child’s christening. It was a lovely day, the church service was very friendly and Juliet (baby being christened) loved it so much she end up with her hands in the water (no tears). A good afternoon was to be had, catch up with friends when drinking ice cold beer in the shade of a beautiful garden when the temperature is 32C.
Now it’s just time to prepare for the week ahead, but that’s not too bad as this week we have a day off, on Wednesday for Australia Day. Here’s to a 4 day week.

10th January 2011 till 16th January 2011
January 10th to January 16th 2011
We the first week of the year in Australia has gone well, I think. It was back to normal on Monday 10th January 2011, but a shock to the system. It was good to see everyone again and to show them picture of my snowy Christmas. Though the jet lag gone worse as the week went on, I think the worse day was Thursday. I spent most of the morning fighting my eye lids (which is not a good thing when you are in training and is one of two).
I have been in training for the last few days, to use a light assessment for people who have had a stroke and have had as a result lost field vision. So far the course has been very interesting and I may have found yet another interesting area of practice. The course continues on Monday and Tuesday this week, really looking forward to it.
January 12th 2011
This was a day I have been waiting for, for as long as I can remember. My amazing husband had agreed to buy me a piano for my birthday (and wedding present) and it arrived on Wednesday morning. On the same day Mark had tickets to see the Cricket 20 /20 game in Adelaide. He did ask me if I wanted to go, but I had waited long enough to play my own piano. No cricket match was going to get between me and my piano. In the end Mark went to the cricket with Jon and Georgia. I on the other hand had a girly night in with Liz, where pizza and a girls flick was the call of the day.

January 14th 2011
This evening Mark and I had my guiding friends Wendy and Judy over for dinner, so we could plan next terms girl guide sessions. We had a lovely evening and Mark’s cooking went down a storm. I now just need to get through the to-do list and the girl guides term will be sorted. Any one got any suggests for activities I could do with my girls for St David’s day.
I nearly forgot today I returned home from work early. Knowing my landlady had let the pumper in during the day, as Mark and I were unable to do so. However I was not expecting her to be there cleaning (scrubbing) the toilet basins and kitchen sink when I returned home. It doesn’t stop there, when she had finished she persisted to give me a lesson on the local cleaning products. She ended the lesson with a list of products that I should get from the shops. It gets worse, she then asked me if I would mind if she got changed, as she was in her gardening clothes because the toilet and kitchen sink cleaner was bleach. This I agreed to, expecting her to go into the bathroom to get changed. Oh no she got changed in the living room I had to dash into the kitchen before I saw something I didn’t need to see. I was so shocked by it all, I rang Mark for support. Mark's responses was if she wanted to clean the house, why don't we agree to adding $20 to the weekly rent, through laughter.
January 15th 2011
Just a general day for me, getting through my guiding to do list, but Mark went of on a bike ride with a few people (Jon, Adam and Adam) around Mount Lofty and then I meet up with them in the pub later.
January 16th 2011
After a long needed lie in, we headed south in the car to check out some more beaches. After about an hours dive we found a love bay called Second Valley. After spending most of the afternoon on the beach and swimming. We began the journey home, popping into a few pubs/restaurants on the way. Both of which we can fully recommend (Leonard Mill, in Second valley and the Victoria Hotel, Aldinga).

Christmas, New Year and a birthday
Firstly I am sorry it has been a month since I wrote the last blog, but I promise to make up for it. I have so much to tell you all. Where to start is the question.
Since last writing we have taken a trip home to the United Kingdom to visit many of you. Our journey begun on December 22nd 2010 not before many people in Australia told us we would be spending Christmas in Singapore. The Christmas decorations in Singapore were not bad.

Though Christmas in Singapore was not to be thank god, and after a short delay due to the snow, we arrived in Bolton at Mark’s parents. That is not before our hired Ford Focus got stuck in the snow a few yards from the Farrell residence and the close residents helped us out of the snow. After saying hello to Bill and Sue and being well rested and watered we were back on the road to visit the Morgan side of the family. The snow continued throughout our travels and reminded on the ground even in Rhoscolyn.

The Morgan’s Christmas house welcomed us with opened arms and even the cat (Smudge) came home after being missing for 18 months, to welcome us. We had a great relaxing Christmas and it was fantastic to spend some quality time with family members.

(Dad this is Mark's photo for the christmas tree challenge).

(We even saw the Wexford hills from the lookout in Rhoscolyn during our stay).
Boxing Day was the beginning of some very busy days seeing friends and in the middle of it we spent some quality time with the Farrell family.

(Farrell Family, Family bear called Layburn).
New Year’s Eve was spent in our beloved Plas with great friends, family and 2 dogs. I’d a hope that the guests had as much fun as Mark and I had. It was worth waiting 6 months to spend some quality time with close friends.

( A beer always tastes better with a good view).
Our trip home was absolutely out of this world and goes down as the best holiday in history. Mark and I did agree however that after completing 1300 miles by car we need a holiday to recover, but I would not have changed it for the world.
On our way home we spent 15 hours in Singapore. During this time we saw so much but I think the things I will always remember is having a Singapore Sling in the Raffles Hotel and swimming in the airports run top swimming pool.

On our return to Adelaide Mark and I both agreed that our trip home had made us appreciate the best of the UK and Adelaide. Saturday evening we went out for dinner (for my birthday and to keep ourselves awake), we went to Mont Lofty’s restaurant (the highest point in Adelaide with amazing views), the food was out of this world but the sea mist did not do much for the view. We had a lovely time though.

Sunday was my first birthday in the summer and it was such a special day. We spent the day on the beach with our friends Jon and Liz who brought me a cupcake (with candle) and beer. It was as good as you can image. In the evening our friends Georgia and Jason invited us for dinner. Once again the food was amazing (Georgia has to be the best cook in Australia).

(My birthday cake from the Burnside Deli).
Monday 10th well back to normal and the beginning of work.
