First week of March

March begun with a smile on my face, because of my RSB friend remembered Saint David’s day and had made me a welsh cake. I even remembered to wear the leek badge I got for Christmas in my Christmas stocking. My Welsh night went really well at Girl Guides. We played tag rugby, I think the girls need a little bit more practice but they got the jest of it. We even started the game with the National Anthem. The rest of the evening was spent filling out a Welsh Quiz, learning about the flag, making a friendship band and eating welsh cakes, which went down a storm. Tell me how have I lived in Wales for so long and it’s taken moving to Australia for me to finally learn how to make homemade Welsh cakes and Bara Brith.

We may be in the first week of March but our Guide unit has been very busy. Last weekend they had a canoeing camp and Monday (7th) we had our annual AGM and sausage sizzle. Next week is a fundraising event and in a few weeks we are going indoor climbing, I can’t wait. On top of this I am working towards my leadership qualifications with Judy, who has become a fantastic new friend.

The first weekend of March we say goodbye to a loyal old friend and hello to a new friend that will help us explore this great big beautiful country. Our new friend began our tour of this amazing country by taking us to a beach which is only accessible by a 4by4 and we find a deserted beach, where the rest of our Sunday afternoon was spent swimming and reading a book.  Even George our bear enjoyed the sun, with is stylish sun hat.

George has a trip to the beach!

15th February to 26th February

The week has been as normal. Tuesday and Thursday we went swimming, Wednesday night I had my Guide meeting. Friday evening is where things begun to change. Friday night we went out to the Adelaide Markets for a surprised birthday meal for Liz. It was an amazing meal (another one to add our meal out recommendations). We had a lovely meal catching up with all our CIRSO friends.

Saturday we spent the day doing the gardening and sorting things out for our trip to New Zealand, Christchurch. Mark was to go over on Sunday for the week for work and I was going to join him for the weekend. As you can image though this has now been cancelled, but we hope we will be able to go some other time. We wish all the best for those of you over in Christchurch, we are thinking of you. The guide group I assist hope to help a little by raising some money for the earthquake appeal.

Thursday 24th Feb – After a busy day at work the best way to end the day, is a swim at the beach and a Good Life pizza with friend.

This week we have also managed to get pictures given to us at Christmas framed and on the wall. They are looking good, thank you all.

Today (Saturday) we have had a busy day at home. Housework, baking (of welsh cakes and Bara Brith for my Welsh night at Guides this week.), gardening and a long chat on the phone with good friends. Now it’s just a matter of waiting for my husband to get back from his bike ride, so we can look at our trip to Tasmania in November.
